Rialto Bridge: The Commercial Heart of Venice
An Architectural Icon
The Rialto Bridge, built in the 16th century, is the oldest of the four bridges crossing the Grand Canal, known for its unique structure and its shops.
Rialto Market
The Rialto Market is one of the oldest markets in Venice. Still active and very popular today, especially in the mornings, it attracts Venetians and restaurateurs looking for fresh fish, seasonal fruits, and vegetables. This place keeps the city’s commercial tradition alive, offering an authentic Venetian experience.
Next to the market stalls, you’ll find numerous traditional osterias, called bacari, perfect for enjoying cicchetti and a glass of wine, following local tradition.
Atmosphere and Iconic Photographs
The Rialto Bridge is one of the most photographed landmarks in the city. It offers a spectacular view of the Grand Canal, especially at sunset when the golden light reflects on the water. Climbing the bridge is a perfect opportunity to capture the beauty of Venice and admire the gondolas and vaporettos gliding along the canal.
